Had TURP Procedure. Bleeding Due To Constipation. Need To Seek Treatment?
About 10 days ago I had TURP.I'm 73 .The operation was conducted using spinal block etc.After advice regards straining,following a slightly tougher bowel movement I have now re commenced to bleed.I was told this will happen on/off for a number of weeks.I have used ural to reduce stinging.I am not on any medication like antibiotics.My health is good and the current flow is reasonable.At what stage should I be concerned and seek treatment regarding the excess blood? You are 73 years old, done TURP 10 days back, and the catheter is removed.
Health wise you are alright and current flow of urine reasonable.
So the surgery part of it OK. As most of the prostate is removed by TURP the prostate will not produce any bulging into the rectum. Then why should you strain for defecation.
Consult your Dr for your rectal examination and find out any cause for constipation and difficulty in defecation
