Had Lipoma removed. Black liquid oozed out at the beginning. What could it be?

My husband had a lipoma removed from his upper back today which was there for last 6 years with very slow growth. At the start of the surgery, blackish fluid came out first and then the Doctor took out the lipoma. I have never heard of fluid associated with Lipoma. I am really worried and want to know what it actually is.

Lipoma is usually a benign tumor of fat cells...It may be solid or in jelly form like fluid.
Majority of times it is solid only,,but rarely it contains fluid.
