Growing Lump In Finger, Got Hurt While Playing. X Ray Showed Clear Image. Any Ideas?

Hi, my partner hurt finger catching a cricket ball about 12months ago. A small hard lump ended up growing on the injured site, we had an xray done and it showed up to be nothing. It has been nine months since the xray and the lump has doubled in size. If you look closely at the lump it is slighly bluey and gray, it looks similar to a bruise. Should we be concerned ?

Thank you,
Kate

Hi--this sounds like a ganglion cyst and it is connected to the joint. It can be just followed, or it can be aspirated with a needle, but if it's causing problems it will likely need surgical excision
