Groin And Scrotum Itching, Rash On Pubic Area, No Pain, Itching. Tried Clotrimazole. Any Ideas?

hi
i've had itching around my groin and scrotum for a few months now and after shaving my pubic area have noticed a rash/little bumps. They are around both sides of my scrotum and a little near my anus. The rash/little shiny raised bumps don't hurt but itch at night and it's hard not to scratch. I've tried clotrimazole and lyclear creams and whilst they soothe, don't seem to make the rash go away. Any ideas?

Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic
Itching over groin and scrotum could be intertrigo or fungal infection. An examination by a dermatologist will confirm it. Avoid excessive rubbing, excessive cleaning with soap and water. Wear boxer type of under garments. Always wear cotton clothes. Keep the area dry. An antifungal dusting powder will help decrease moisture and will also prevent fungus from colonizing the skin.

The new itchy bumps could be something called pseudo folliculitis or ingrown hair post shaving. Itching will improve once hair grows out. You can apply an antibiotic cream like mupirocin 2% (eg: T-Bact) over the red spots. An antihistamine like cetrizine 10 mg once a day will help in decreasing itching. Get these prescribed by your primary care physician or dermatologist. Avoid shaving your pubic hair. You may trim it.
Hope this helped
