Got Silent Reflux. Taking Losec. No Problem While Pooping. What Can It Be?

Hello Dr,
My baby is 10 months old now and weighs 4.98 kgs. He's got silent reflux and is on Losec tablests 1ml twice a day. He's been on AR formula since last 2 days. We've noticed change in his poop. Its semi-solid and yellow. No blood stains and he's not in any sort of pain when pooping. But his very grump at feeding times. He won't ever eat hand held position. We put him in his cot and feed him For the first few times he'll refuse the bottle but eventually take it. But takes only max 120ml in single feed.
Can you please help us. We have been to 5 different GP but no clear clue of what is happening with my baby. We are desperate.
Kinda regards,

Hello
Thank you for placing your query on Health Care Magic.
5 kgs at 10 months age is a little underweight. Reflux can cause these symptoms but we would like to be sure of the reason as this can not be ignored. First it is important to know the degree of reflux. A barium swallow or a GER scan are the tests to find that out. If it is severe then it needs to be tackled. If it is mild then it should not cause decrease in appetite and inadequate weight gain. I would like to know whether he cries a little excessively while passing urine. Recurrent episodes of infection in the urinary tract can lead to such failure to thrive (inadequate weight gain). Then it may also be some malabsorption syndrome in which child can not properly digest one of the food contents. Recurrent chest infections can also cause all this. There is also a list of endocrine or hormone problems which can lead to all this. I believe your son needs a proper evaluation and you should consult a Pediatrician for the same. He may turn out to be something benign but I think it is advisable to rule all these things out
Hope that helped
God bless you
