My daughter is bitten by a dog yesterday. We gave her a Tetanus injection immediately and then today, we sarted with first dose of anti rabies injection which will be followed on 16th and then final one on 20th of this month. But she has developed fever around 101. I checked the wound, it does not apparently seems to be infected and she does not have much pain earlier.( The dog snapped her which caused the bruise and didnot bite) She is complaining of pain in the foot. Please suggest

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

I understand you daughter was bitten/ snapped by a pet dog which is given anti rabies vaccine regularly.

There are situations when patients develop fever one to three days after receiving tetanus shot. This is a minor side effect and needs to be treated symptomatically. It could also be that your daughter could be having a viral flu at the same time as a coincidence.

Dog bite wounds must be cleaned well with water. As the bite is on the foot, and I suppose the dog was vaccinated, this is among the low risk dog bite wounds. Taking a course of vaccinations however is a must for any dog bite.
Please give her some oral anti pyretic and pain killer combination after consulting your doctor.

Hope this helps.
