Giving Breast Milk & Nan Pro 1 For Baby. Passing Stool In Green Color. Is This Normal?

My baby is 4 weeks old. I dont have enough milk and am giving breast milk + Nan Pro 1. He urinates a lot and passing stools twice everyday. I am worried about the color of his stools. It is green in color at times. Usually it is mustard. Is this normal? I also read reviews about Nan and lotsa parents have complained about green stools. Please advise if we should change the formula.

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

Green color of the stool is not of much significance.

It indicates increased bowel motility and nothing else.

I just wanted to suggest you one thing. There is nothing like breast milk not being sufficient. You should try and breast feed your baby.

Breast feeding is ideal for a baby. It helps in brain growth. Breast milk has right things at right time in right quantities. It prevents against infections.

As the baby suckles more, more milk is produced. So breast feed and stop all those formula.

If you keep your mind tension free and free from worries and take the baby in your lap with love and affection breast milk will be sufficiently produced.

Did you ever come across a animal with failure to breast feed. We as humans are failing to breast feed because of our worries and thoughts.

Hi
Thanks for your query.
Green stools are normal & not a reason to worry or change formula.
It just means that when bowels move fast the bile (green digestive juice) does not get enough time to change its colour.
Urinating a lot means that he is getting enough milk & if weight gain is satisfactory ,everything is fine.
Hope I have answered your query.
If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Wish your son a good health.

Hi
Thanks for your query,
Green color of stools only signifies rapid transit and it is not a thing to worry.
I suggest you to give exclusive breast feeding till six months of age.You should take good nutritious diet .Take plenty of fluids so that milk production increases.
If you have to add formula feed take extra care for cleaning of bottle as bottle is the only source of infection.

Wishing your baby good health.
God bless..
