Hello ,
Welcome to HealthcareMagic forum.
Your daughter is most probably suffering from a gastroenteritis or stomach infection.
Most of such infections are caused by viruses and resolve with supportive treatment like oral rehydration solution , paracetamol for fever and probiotics and zinc supplements for loose motions.
However if it persists beyond a couple of days or progressively worsens then a course of antibiotics like ofloxacin or metronidazole or Cefixime might be required (as prescribed by your doctor ).Dengue fever usually doesn't present so but in mosquitoe dense areas it should always be ruled out by blood tests.
Hope I have answered your query.
Wishing her a speedy recovery.
Hope i

Hello maam and welcome,

Thanks for your query.

I understand your anxiety as this is the season for dengue, due to the rains in India. But, before we look into dengue. Let me tell you that your daughters symptoms are more likely to be either a stomach infection or food poisoning that could lead to a list of other infections.

The best thing for her right now would be to visit a doctor who will examine her and may be even order an analysis of her stool. If it is gastroenteritis (a very common stomach infection), we can treat her with a short course of antibiotics, even pro-biotics (which will help in the digestion process) and give her relief from any gas that is normally produced in excess during a stomach infection.

To feel reassured you could request the doctor to get a simply blood investigation called a CBC. This test will help in establishing any kind of infection in the body (if there is a stomach infection) and will also help in showing a picture commonly seen with dengue.

Once either one of them is more likely to be present, the doctor can take it from there.

Do not panic, and remember to please keep your daughter hydrated at all times. A sachet of ORS is easily available over the counter in pharmacies (medical stores as we call it in India), mix this sachet with 1 Liter of water, and ask her to finish this by 12-16 hours. Also available are small tetra packs of ORS, ask her to try to finish at least 3 in a day.

I hope I have succeeded in answering your questions, you could write back to us anytime for further clarifications.

Best wishes.
