Getting Reddish Brown Stool, Bright Yellow Urine. Losing Weight. Is It A Serious Problem?
Hello, I am 22 years old 5 9 and weight about 137 pounds. Today I went to the bathroom and had reddish brown stool and my urine was a bright yellow. I also have been losing weight and am not trying to. I have lost about 10 pounds in a 1 month time span. I just want to make sure these are not signs of something more serious. Thanks.
Unintentional weight loss may not be due to any serious conditions but it should always be investigated.
Unintentional weight loss of 10 pounds in 1 month is significant.
The possible causes are: (1) loss of appetite (2) persistent vomiting (3)side effect of medication (4)malabsorption of food (5)endocrine diseases such as hyperthyroidism, diabetes (6)cancer (7)infection (8)systemic disease such as liver disease, kidney disease, lupus
It would best to go to your doctor for an assessment which includes physical examination , blood tests (such as full blood count, liver function tests, kidney tests, thyroid function test) and possibly imaging.
I hope this helps
