Gestational Diabetes. Post Pregnancy Blood Test Shows High GGT. What Is The Problem?

Hi, Seventeen months ago I had twins. During my pregnancy I had gestational diabetes. My six month post pregnancy blood test showed high GGT levels 489, one month later 215, ten months later 196. My endocrinologist at the six month test said she had seen this in women who have had multiples enough not to not be concerned as long as they go down and should be back to normal after another 6 months. My AST levels are currently 48, ALT 63, I also have high iron ( ferritin) levels 261, Copper 30, and anti-DNA Antibodies 7. I have had an ultrasound on my abdomen and everything is fine. I only drink one glass of red wine a night. I do not have cancer or hepatitis. I am being tested for genetic haemachrometosis but I have no symptoms of anything. I feel perfectly fine. The only thing I have told the dr is that I have been a long term smoker of marijuana ( not during pregnancy) and only on weekends now. Could this be elevating the results? And if not, what else could be going on?

Hi,

Yes, you are right, most probably marijuana has caused such elevation.

I'd suggest to stay away of this drug, if you used to stay away while in pregnancy, why not getting enough strength to be away of it?

Your life is more precious than the "smoke" of marijuana. Enjoy it together with your baby and family.

Hope it helped!
