what are the uses of studying gene linkages ? what are the advantages of a three point system of linkage analysis over that of a two point linkage analysis?

study of gene linkages tells about the location of the gene on the chromosomes and help in mapping of chromosomes which can then be used for analysis , prevention and even treatment of genetic diseases. three point linkage analysis gives more exact location of the gene and the mapping obtained is more precise than two point linkage.
