Gall Bladder Removed And Has Pain In Rib Cage, Arm. Medical Cure For This?
I have been experiencing pain under my right rib cage since July. I had a severe cough about 2 years ago and felt something tear in there. Was in pain for months my dr. said it would heal. Now its back worse than before. travels to the back. seems to be worse right under my arm sore to the touch, have been for xrays, ultra sound, bone scan blood work Am extremely frustrated, any thoughts. I feel pressure under my rib cage when I sit or drive. Had my Gall bladder removed 2 years ago.
Hi ! Good morning. I am Dr Shareef answering your query. From the history, it seems that you either had a muscle tear resulting in a hematoma (small collection of blood) under your rib cage which has organised and causing this discomfort to you, or might be an incisional hernia through the operative area of previous gall bladder surgery. If the pain increases or continues, I would suggest you to go for a CT scan of the area to exclude any pathology not picked up by the ultrasound. In the mean while you may go for an anti inflammatory drug along with a proton pump inhibitor drug for a symptomatic relief.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.
Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
