Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
After going through history of your mother, she is hypothyroidism and high cholesterol I presume they are well controlled with treatment.
Vertigo with changes in position could be due to many conditions but commonly occurs due to Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo,Labyrinthitis,Meniere's disease,
Vestibular neuritis and even Migraine.
Please consult a ENT surgeon and Neurologist to know the exact cause of her problem.
If required X ray cervical spine, Ct scan head, or MRI for assessment of brain and internal ear may be required as also complete Audiometry.
Commonly cinnarizine and Betahistine drugs are used please consult doctor and take proper prescription hope this information is useful to you.
Take care.
Good Luck.
