I recently found a redness and lump on my right breast, it was red and warm to touch. I also was experincing weird sensations of fullness, and a pricly heat that would come and go. I went to the doctor and she was proactive, she started me on antibiotics in case it was mastitis, and set me up for a mammogram and a ultrasound. The antibitotics did help reduce the swelling and redness but I continued to have the same feelings of fullness and the weird prickly heat sensation that would come and go. The mammogram did not show anything, but the US showed a probably benign hypoechoic lobular lesion measuring about 1.5 cm. The radiologist suggestion was to follow up in 6 months. whenIi went to my practioner to follow up she was not happy with just waiting for a 6 month follow up and sent me to a surgeon who sent me to have a Ultra sound guided biopsy. I went in for the biopsy and before they began they rescanned the area to make sure they could see what was on the original scan. The radiologist came in and said that what he was seeing was just a dialated duct and that the biopsy was not needed. I was a little in shocked and he stated that the other radiologist probably read the original when I was still had inflamation around the area. I was in shock how is it that it was originally read as a lesion is just now a dialated duct. He did not call the surgeon and ask how to proceed. So now I am freaking out, who do I believe!!! And if its just a dialated duct why am I experiencing the same full prickly heat sensation. I spoke with surgeons office and I will follow up in a week. But for now I am in limbo, not knowing is the worst feeling in the world!!!
