Foot Injury, Bruise, Pain, Nausea. Recommendations?

Hello, I closed the door on my left foot and my pinky and top of my foot are very bruised and am in a lot of pain. This happened 2 days ago. I have not gone to the doctor as I'm not sure if my foot/toe is fractured. I cannot bear all my weight on my left foot and my pinky hurts a lot. I am feeling nauseous today, is this a sign of a feature?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.
From the description, it seems that you might have sustained a fracture of metacarpal or phalangeal bone in the foot.
A fractured bone produces severe pain on weight bearing due to the movement occuring between the broken ends of bone (which is true in your case).

Temporarily,
* keep the foot end in elevation most of the times
* Ice compressions to reduce pain
* avoid bearing weight on the foot
* use analgesic antiinflammatory medication

Get an xray for the foot which diagnoses a fracture and take an orthopedic surgeons opinion.
Wishing you a quick recovery.

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.

Hurt , bruised and lot of pain.
You told nothing about swelling or colour change. If there is any swelling, then chances of fracture is more but there may be hairline fracture with no displacement and with no swelling. Take analgesic(NSAID), restriction of movements, put crepe bandage and apply local pain killer gel like diclofenac.Hope this will help you. Consult your doctor for examination and management.
Hope I answered your question. Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries.
Wish you good health. Take care.

Regards

Hi !
It seems from your history that you might have fractured your toe. I would advise you to undergo an X-Ray of your foot to rule it out. In the meantime you can take tab aceclofenac 50 mg twice a day for pain relief.
