Fluttering Feeling In Throat. Normal EKG And Nuclear Stress Test. Should I Be Worried?
I have been getting a thump in my throat or a fluttery. It happened a few years ago and I had all the tests. ekgs. halter monitor, nuclear stress test and it all came back fine. It went away for a couple of years and now its back, should I worry? It seems like it is usually associated with gas or I have to go to the restroom after. it is giving me great anxiety.
If the abnormal sensation is associated with gas or having to use the bathroom, it is less likely to be associated with heart disease and more likely related to the gastrointestinal tract.
Heart disease more commonly presents with chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations (abnormal heart beats that would be felt in the chest), swelling of the legs.
You may want to consider to use of medications that are used for reflux (these will help with the gas/bloating) and alter your diet to reduce spicy/acidic/fried foods to see if your symptoms improve.
Hello, It seems to be gastro intestinal problem because it is associated with gas. But it is better to check thyroid hormones like TSH, T4 and T3. Flutter in throat may be due increased circulation in hyperthyroidism. Thus if you have hyperthyroidism, you may need anti thyroid drugs. If the thyroid is normal, then we have to think of gastrointestinal problems. Then you must need Gastroenterologist opinion.
Hope this helps. Please write back for further queries. Wishing you good health.
