Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Fever, Pustules On Face, Fever Blister. Suggestions?
My oldest (8) and youngest (22 months) both have really high fevers and have developed small pustules on their face. There are more on my youngest than oldest. My younger one has had a fever for 3 days and my daughter for 2. My 2 middle children are fine so my question is should I do anything with the pustuales?? My oldest keeps trying to pick at them and I keep saying leave them alone. She has a fever blister really close to the pustules; could they be the same thing just on her face?
Would like to know :
1)Whether the pustules are only on the face?
2)Have they increased in number?
3)Are they itchy and have burning sensation?
From your description it appears that they are suffering from Cold sore which is of viral nature and will subside in 7-10 days. You can apply calamine for soothing effect and also get them examined for confirmation of diagnosis so that some antiviral creams could be prescribed.
Hi
Thanks for your query.
As mentioned your children are having some exanthematous rash with fever.
There is also cold sore associated .
Since this is contagious I suggest you to keep children separate from other two.
I suggest you to get them examined by pediatrician for proper diagnosis and management.
In the meantime apply calamine 2 to 3 times, give acetaminophen for fever.
