Fell, swelling in hand, thumb, pain. Could it be a scaphoid fracture?

hi, i fell yesterday and put my arm out to stop the fall. my hand/wrist took the impact. i have light swelling to my hand mainly near the thumb and forefinger. the fleshy patr under my thumb aches. i can not fully move my thumb across my palm towards my little finger. i can hold weight iin my hand but it feels uncomfortable, and at the wrong angle its painful. could it be a scaphoid fracture?

Thanks for writing to us.
It might be soft tissue injury or fracture. It could be a scaphoid fracture if there ii tenderness over scaphoid fossa.
Without X-ray, it is difficult to differentiate a fracture from others. I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance.
In the interim,apply ice packs to the affected area,anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation. Avoid lifting and rest well.
