Fell, Hurt Thumb, X Ray Normal, Still Painful.

Hi, I fell and hurt my thumb , an X-ray ruled out any boney damage and my ligaments were tested by a nurse and were also found to be fine. Seven weeks later its still painful at times, I cannot put my thumb into a clenched position, the base of the thumb is most painful epically when pressed. It s also itchy, and dry. Swelling and bruising has now gone down. How long after an injury should I expect for it to be feeling better? I have no wrist pain.

Hi, thank you for your question.

we should expect no more pain at this stage, If you still having pain at the base of the thumb then X-ray of the thumb/ scaphoid should be repeated unless no tenderness at all on pressing over your thumb and hand.

kind regards
