Fell down while playing. Facing difficulty to breath with severe pain. Have I fractured my rib?

Hi! how can I know if I have a fractured rib or not?? (I fell on my side while diving for a volleyball when someone dove sideways at the same time and fell on top of me..) I don t have extreme pain but I have pain when I laugh too hard or breathe from my mouth... I don t think I have anything fractured since if i did I would have been in soo much pain right?

Thanks for posting your query.

It might be soft tissue injury or fracture rib.

Without X-ray, it is difficult to differentiate a fracture from others. I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance.

In the interim, apply ice packs to the affected area,anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation. Avoid exertion and rest well.

Wishing you good health...
