Fell At The Gym, Palm Swollen Instantly, Wrist Hurts. Sprain ?
hi i was at the gym i fell and braced my self with my right hand and the base of my thumb in my palm became swollen instantly an the vain that hand began to swell also the swelling has slightly gone down but my wrist now hurts also what is wrong with it? is it just a sprain or something more serious i can move my thumb finger but it is very painful
An xray of the injured area is necessary to diagnose a fracture.
The initial treatment of this condition involves - * Protection in the form of a splint or external support to prevent further damage * Rest to the injured part so as allow the inflammation to settle down * Ice compression over the area once in 2 hours to alleviate the pain * Compression elastic bandage around the swollen area * elevation of the hand and active finger movements to facilitate circulation
I suggest you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for further workup and management.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
