Fell And Cracked Fore Ribs, Unable To Breath, Spams, Blood Clot In Calf Of Leg, On Medicine. Recommendations?

If you fell & cracked 4 ribs, could a blood clot form in the calf of your leg. After the fall there was difficulty in breathing. spasms, and difficulty talking. This happened to my son who developed the blood clot a few days after he fell & is now in the hospital. As his Mother I am worried since he lives out of state?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The cracked ribs are likely to cause a difficulty and pain on taking deep breath. Using a chest belt and taking mild pain killers will help in getting some relief. Avoid cough and constipation.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
