Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi
Severe nausea is a side effect of AMITRIPTYLINE. It is due to its anticholinergic activity. It is can be combated by taking Domperidone 10 0r 20 mg 3 times daily before taking food. If not getting relief you need to consider to change ENDEP to some other antianxiety medications in consultation with your doctor.

Psychiatrist Dr. Ashish Mittal's  Response
Hello,
welcome to Healthcare Magic.

Amitriptyline is associated with nausea, acidity, constipation and drowsiness at initiation of treatment. Usually these side effects stopped occurring after continuation of treatment.

25 mg Amitriptyline is low dose, to be effective for anxiety. Reason for dose reduction is not clear from your history. Low dose can also lead to recurrence of anxiety symptoms.

If you are not tolerating Amitriptyline well, then you can meet your psychiatrist for reevaluation. You can also request for newer medicine to control your anxiety like: SSRIs and Mirtazapine.

Wishing you good health and all the best.

Regards,
