Faster Heartbeats With Ingestion, Panic, Fear Of Death. Is This Due To Anxiety?
Hi recently ive been having fast heart rates when ive been resting and could happen during the middle of the night. It only used to happen if I went out the night before and had a good few beers. Is it down to my anxiety levels ? I suffer alot with ingestion and panic and think im gonna die . May have s heart attack. Im only 23 and I do smoke but not heavilly.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Praveen's Response
Hi.Thanks for writing on HCM. Pounding heart beat can be a sign of cardiac problem.Alcohol and nicotine are tiggers especially if there is any underlying cardiac problem. This can be ruled out only on examination and few labs(ECG and Tread mill test-if required).I suggest to cut alcohol and minimise smoking; practice stress relaxation techniques(like yoga) and consult your physician for further management. Hope this answers your query.
