Family History Of Enlarged Prostate Issues. Is It Hereditary?

My father has enlarged prostate issues. No cancer, but he is in the process of having a third procedure to remove some grams of the prostate. First one, 40 grams; second one, 25 grams; and now the third. My twin brother has some issues too. I am wondering if it is guaranteed that I, being his twin, will also have problems. I am aware that as men get older, the prostate gets enlarged. Is it genetics? Is it hereditary? Is it just being male? Is it a combination?
My twin and I are 46 years old. Our father is 79. I have not had any problems.....yet.

Also, what is the best treatment to help my father who experiences blood clots related to the prostate? I would have thought that after the first 2 procedures all would be well.............................Why is the prostate acting up every 4 to 5 years after grams have been removed?

Thanks for using HCM
BPH is purely benign condition, chances of hereditary is only 50% if the family member was operated for it before age of 60. BPH is common in men after 60 years. For your father as he is posted for operation, you can discuss about medical line of treatment in post op period, as there are medications like 5 alpha reductase inhibitor to control BPH, with your urologist. Have a good health.
