Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
You have strong family history of Diabetes as your mother and father are diabetic but I am really glad to know that you are taking care of yourself and want to learn what you can do.
Yes you have slightly more risk of diabetes than normal population.
First it is not absolutely necessary that you will develop diabetes.
You should follow regular exercises and keep ideal body weight and proportion., you can take up some out door sport or aerobic exercises like cycling, running, swimming on most of days of week.
Take healthy and balanced diet please go for complete medical check up to find out present status then check Blood sugar at least twice a year and HbA1c once a year, please also check for Blood pressure, if you take alcohol or smoking please quit both if you do not take then continue.
Keep your lipid profile to optimum level.
Please keep your medical follow up with Physician at least every year.
Take Care
Good Luck.
