Hi, Thanks for using Healthcaremagic, I am happy to know that your Diabetes is well controlled with exercise and taking care of diet it is possible to diabetes under control in early stage of diabetes.
You need to monitor your blood sugar Fasting and postprandial at least once a month and you can check HbA1c( Glycosylated Haemoglobin) once in 3 months. Your parents are diabetic so you need to be careful.
I would suggest you to continue physical exercise as it not only helps to maintain blood sugar there are other benefit on cardiovascular health and helps in maintaining near ideal weight. Take care of diet avoid simple sugars and food with high glycemic index taking small and frequent meals helps.
If you smoke please stop it and alcohol is also best avoided. Diabetes is chronic lifestyle disease hence we need to monitor the disease and keep blood sugar under control to prevent future complications there are many.
Hope this helps you. wish you good Health. Take care. Dr.Akhilesh Dubey M.D

Hi Thanks for using HCM.
You are right in managing Diabetes. The first thing to do is life style modifications. Keep doing these activities (Exercises and diet). We can postpone the occurrence or progression of the diabetes and can reveres early diabetes changes doing life style modifications. These are more effective than medications in early stages.
The Type 2 DM occurs due to resistance of insulin receptors and also due to decrease in insulin release. Since diabetic history and also 6 months back you were diagnosed with DM, you have risk of getting diabetes. But with the life style modifications as told earlier you can postpone the problem.
Hello, It is good that you are able to control your diabetes by a proper mix of dietary controls and regular exercises.Since diabetes is a progressive disease, some day you may have to start anti diabetic drugs ,because as your age advances, more and more of beta cells would start getting damaged naturally. These beta cells are responsible for control of your blood sugar levels and they achieve this by release of insulin. There is nothing to get worried about and just simply carry on with your diet control and exercises.Once you feel that your blood sugar levels are getting high inspite of exercises and diet, consult a doctor for prescription of anti diabetic medication Thanks
