Extremely Irregular Periods. Ultrasound Shows Non Specific Pelvic Culdesac Fluid. Suggestions?
Hi there! My cousin has recently been having extremely irregular periods for the last couple of months. They will last around 15-20 days. She went to her doctor had routine blood work done and Ultrasound, everything came back normal except her Ultrasound stated there was a small amount of nonspecific free pelvic culdesac fluid.
They told her she was fine and dismissed her. Im wondering why they didn't attempt to regulate her of if there is something else that could potentially be wrong?
Hi dear user, thanks for your query. Your history seems to be incomplete as you have not mentioned the age, marital status and parity( no. of children) of your cousin.Small free fluid in culdesac can be due to ovulation or little infection. As per your history, all reports are normal. If your cousin is not suffering from any major medical disorder(hypertension, diabetes, thromboembolism), not smoking, age <35 years, not lactating and not planning to have a baby then in my opinion, low dose oral contraceptives can be given for 3-6 cycles to regulate the cycles.
