High blood pressure can cause weak blood vessels in the brain to burst, and cause a stroke. It can cause increased pressure on the vessels in your eyes, causing blindness. It causes narrowing and thickening of the blood vessels in the kidneys, causing them to filter less waste, and can lead to the need for dialysis, or kidney failure. Also high blood pressure is associated with hardening of the arteries of the heart, which can lead to heart attacks.
