Experiencing Severe Cramps After Having A Miscarriage

I am 35 and had a miscarriage 4 months ago. I had a TVUSS at the time and 6 weeks later which showed everything was normal. For the past 2 months I have had bad cramps throughout my cycle especially around and after ovulation and I find that sex can be painful too. I never had trouble with cramps during my cycle before being pregnant and miscarrying. We are trying to conceive again. Is this amount of cramping normal?
