Experiencing Pain On Hip Due To An External Injury

Slipped on ice today and fell hard on right hip. I have been able to walk but as day has went on the hip has become more and more sore. It's swollen and tender to touch. It hurts on outside of leg. It does hurt to move it. My question is could I still walk on it if I had a hip fracture

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
yes contrary to public perception there are fractures in which patient can walk. My advice you is to show to orthopaedic surgeon and get x ray of hip joint. Till that time, yo apply ice to your hip and keep your leg elevated over a pillow. This will decrease swelling.
