Experiencing Chronic Pain In All Joints And Back, Hurts To Bend Or Twist, Advised Ibuprofen, Tramadol. Is It Arthritis ?

I have been experiencing chronic pain in all of my joints and my back. It hurts to bend over,to twist, or to squat. My doctor wants me to see a rhematologist but the doctor he referred me to is 65 miles away and wants to charge me 500 dollars up front. My doctor doesn't even knoq if it is arthritis or not. I need a second opinion. I have to take ibuprophen 3 times a day, tramadol 3 times a day, and flexaril every 8 hours. I also have to take levothyroxin for my thyroid.

Hello,

Thanks for writing to us,

From your complains it seems you have multiple joint and back pains from a long time. Also you cant squat or twist or bend over, it is mostly due to stiffness of joints or sometimes in arthritis.
You also need to take lots of medicines and pain killers to relieve from pain,
All these point in direction of having some form of arthitis for sure.
You Definitely need to consult a Rheumatologist or a Orthopaedic Surgeon reasons being:
1. Arthritis keep progressing gradually and makes you need more pain killers and higher doses.
2. all these pain killers don't really solve the real problem, which keeps worsening with time
3. So many of these arthritis is well controllable only if treatment started early

I hope this has solved your query,

Regards,

Dr Merchant

Hi,

The fact that your pain is occurring with movements such as twisting, bending and squatting are great examples of how the SI joints. No, it is not arthritis.

Massage and soft tissue work to relax the hip flexors, groin muscles, lateral hip rotators, back extensors and hamstrings.
Progress with a core-stabilizing program that improve both the strength and the function of the entire abdominal region.

I do hope that you have found something helpful.
