hi doctor, my mother had undergone abdomen and pelvis ultrasound examination today ... the was -she has a enlarged uterus measuring 11.3*6.0cm.anterior intra mural myoma measuring 3.8*2.5cm. endometrium is normal in thickness... impression- bulky uterus with anterior intra mural myoma .... what is this situation... how will it be diagnosed ....

A myoma or a fibroid is a very common condition. It is a benign tumour of the smooth muscles and is usually harmless except when it causes excessive bleeding during menstrual cycles.
The diagnosis of a myoma has already been made and no further tests are needed for diagnosis as such.
As far as the treatment is concerned, there are 2 possibilities.
Firstly, if your mother has no symptoms, then nothing needs to be done about this myoma.
However, if your mother is bleeding excessively during her menstrual cycles, this myoma would need to be removed. This is usually done surgically.
Please discuss these options with her gynaecologist.
