Hi Teresa, You are having a condition called premenstrual syndrome. It affects almost 60% women with different severity. There is no need to worry as the symptoms decrease after periods. If the pain is severe take aspirin. Other measures like daily walking or jogging, eating a balanced diet low in fat and having a good sleep decrease the symptoms. You must also keep a daily dairy of your symptoms for 3 months to help keep track of the severity of symptoms. Consult your doctor with this diary after 3 months. If they are severe you may need additional therapy. Thanks for the query and for using HCM. Have a good day. Dr. Madhuri Bagde Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist
