Early Periods. Had Increased Dose Of Effexor. Related?

Hello, I am a 24 year old female who has been on Adderall for over a year, and my doctor just increased my dose of Effexor from 75MG daily to 150MG daily. I started the new dose on Monday, and yesterday I started bleeding. I am not due to have my menstrual cycle for at least another 2 weeks. Is this a side effect of the doubled dose? Or is this something I should be concerned about?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response

hello

As you have said your are taking adederall and effexor for ADHD

Adderall causes painful menses, so adderall is not your cause

Venlafaxine at a dose greater than 75 mg causes metrorrhagia meaning is uterine bleeding at irregular intervals, particularly between the expected menstrual periods.

So yes Venlafaxine is the probable cause of your symptom

Take care
