Ear Infection, Bleeding. What Is The Treatment?
Last year I got a real bad ear infection which got so bad my ear started to bleed ever since my hearing in that ear is very muffled I cleaned my ear with a q-tip not pushing it too deep and there was a lot opf fresh blood on it it took swabs til there wasn t any more blood hovever later I felt as if my ear was leaking so gently cleaned it with another swab and there was more blood I do not have health insurance and it is the weekend so my only option would be the er. Is this a matter for an all day trip to the er or something I can treat over the counter

You should immediately go to ER and consult with ENT surgeon
You my have perforation of ear drum with infection in middle ear.
As ear is very close tobrain, any disease may spread to brain and you may be in trouble.
You may have superficial injury in external ear but the exact nature of illness can be judged after examination.

It is possible that with the q tip you may have injured either the ear canal or the drum leading to bleeding.
Do not ever try to clean the inside of your ear.
Traumatic injuries of the canal or drum normally heal very well so you can probabaly wait before you go to the doctor.
Keep your ears dry and do not let water to get into your ears.
Do not probe your ears or try to clean them.
There is no need for any over the counter medicines. It will heal on its own.
