Dry Throat, Difficulty Swallowing, Decreased Appetite. Taken Allergy Medication

ive been having trouble with my throat for roughly a week. it feels as if my throat is dry even though im constantly taking fluids in. it becomes hard to swallow sometimes and i have to almost for myself to at some points. ive tried allergy meds and anti inflammatory meds to maybe reduce any swelling and nothing has helped. my appetite has decreased as well.

In some persons anti histamines can actually cause excess drying of the mucous membranes and decrease the clearance of secretions. This may be the case for you. You may want to consider discontinuing those for the moment.

Continue the use of fluids.

IF your throat is painful in addition to dry then you may need to visit your doctor for an assessment to make sure that it is not a bacterial infection that needs treatment.

Hi ! You have not mentioned if you have got cough or an upper respiratory infection and any pain in your throat. If the problem persist, then possibly you will have to consult an ENT specialist, who may after examining you prescribe a course of antibiotics to you along with an anti inflammatory, and a decongestant drug.
