Dry, Red Skin On Sides Of Nose. Face Masks Containing Scrubs Provide Relief. Family History Of Psoriasis. Suggestions?

Hello. I have a skin problem. For the last 2 years I have had dry and red skin on each side of my nose , below the eyes. This is an area that used to be oily, and still is to an extent. I had a facial at a spa a year and a half ago and the beautician told me that because I was getting close to 30 years old my skin cell renewal might be slowing down, causing the thick and scaly patches . After the facial my skin was better for about a week but since then it has come back and nothing alleviates it except for face masks containing scrubs (exfoliants), but it never goes away completely. I always have oily skin, oily dandruff about once a month and there is a history of psoriases in my family. The patches seem to get worse in extreme temperatures, air conditioning and around allergy time (I am slightly allergic to something airborne). Any ideas what might be going on and what I can do?

Hi thanks for writing here.It seems you are suffering from a condition known as seborroheic dermatitis. It is a kind of internal eczema.A fungus which is also responsible for causing dandruff plays an important role in causing this disease.Start using antifungal shampoo like nizoral for your dandruff.Use it twice weekly.Continue with it even when you have no dandruff.Do not rub or try to remove scales. You can just apply a baby oil over it which will lossen scales and will fall off.Start applying a steroid antifungal combination like candid b over affected area at night. For oil control you can use cetaphil cleansing lotion .Avoid sun exposure.Relapse is quite common and continue with antifungal shampoo.I think this can solve your problem .take care.
