Dry Patch Skin On Chin Which Burns But No Itching. Boiling Water Spilled Few Years Ago. Does It Have Anything To Do With Burns Then?

I have a dry patch of skin on my chin... It has been there for a few years and burns but does not itch. It feels rough, but no skin peels off even when I rub it hard. There are also a few hairs that grow and fall off every now and then in this patch. Sometimes I don't rub the patch at all and it still becomes sore. It is also slightly darker than the rest of my skin. I was burn about five years ago with boiling water, the water barely hit my face, but I did have some peeling afterward. Could that have anything to do with it?

Hi,

From your description, it might be a little difficult to come to an actual diagnosis of the skin condition. But I would like to tell you that he you have a dry and scaly skin patch especially over the face which has been persistent for years now, then it is surely a cause of concern.
We have a long list of granulomatous diseases which a dermatologist will think of, in patients with such a presentation.
So I would advise you to see a nearby dermatologist soon for proper assessment and management.
Sometimes it is just a benign skin disease but it is very important to rule out other important diseases when patients have such a presentation.

Hope it helps

Dr Geetika Paul.
