Dry Cough, Bruised Feeling In Throat, Heaviness In Lungs. Treatment Options?

I have a dry cough , heavy lungs and a bruised feeling throat . I cough because my lungs feel so heavy and coughing pops some of the pressure and helps me catch my breath. I m 50 y.o. female, non smoker. Thin to normal weight. Even when the cough isn t persistent as it is now, I have always felt the same need to cough when I laugh.
