Done Hysterectomy. Taking Depro. Done CT Scan. Have Pain. Help

Hi I had 15 yrs of endo 4 to 5 laps lupron 5 times but kept fighting to have children ... Last yr at 41 we finally decided we had had enough and decided to have the full hystroctomy with BSO ... I decided to not go on HRT since at time of surgert ( robotic ) that the Dr found that the fibroids had grabbed on to my intestines and had actually wrapped them around my right overies... I was finally pain free for 12 months no it is back, yes I knew there was a small chance. My question is my Dr started me today on Depro and took blood to see how much estrogen is in my system. I have not see anyone else who have said that is what is being done for them and I am a bit confused about the Depro part. I did have a CT scan with contrast and there is a " 2.3 X 1.4 cm low density ovoid structure along the right pelvic sidewall. I only started getting pain in the last week which is how we found it but after a week the pain is as high as it has ever been. Thank you for any help you might be able to give me

Hi,

It is rare for endometriosis to recur after total hysterectomy especially when HRT is not started.
The serum estrogen test will help. If levels are high, it may be the cause of ongoing disease.
The lump in the CT could be an endometrioma or it may be due to adhesions as you also had them before surgery. I suggest that you consult a general surgeon for a second opinion.
The Depro will help in recurrent cases, and a three months course will clear the situtation.
Other treatment options if estrogen is high are GnRh analogues and danazole. They have their own side effects and can be taken after discussing with your gynec.
