Done Eye Test Spherical Power Reduced And Cylindrical Power Increased, Compared To Previous Report. Is It Possible?
Hi I am a male and 25 years of age. Today i took an eye test. Previously(2years back) my right eye was having -4.5 Spherical Power and Cylindrical Power was -1. Today s eye test shows that the right eye is having -3 Spherical Power and Cylindrical Power is -1.5. My question is it possible that : a) The Spherical Power will come down to -3? I have not heard of myopia or spherical power decreasing. b) Is my Cylindrical power too high.Should it be a matter of concern. Can you please advise.

I understand that the specs you were prescribed two years ago should have got stabilized at that time. Moreover, it appears that you did not have any difficulty with these glasses so far.You should change your glasses only if you had some problem with previous one.

Refraction can vary from person to person and it is only a matter of preferences while giving a spectacle prescription. Looking at the two prescriptions it appears that the second one is another variation of the first itself. When we reduce the cylinder, the spherical is increased proportionately and vice versa. In your case too it appears to be so. Nothing wrong in getting glasses done either ways as long as the vision is 20/20 with it.
