Doing heavy masturbation due to stress. Having erectile dysfunction. What can I do?

This is Abhinav and I am 24 male. I started masturbation when I was 21. From past three years I masturbated at least once a day. I feel I treated it badly. Due to my part time, Job and busy schedule I was in stress . All together the problem which I was facing is my pennis is not getting erected. I stopped masturbation couple of weeks ago. I am an unmarried guy and I want to know whether I am alright. What steps would you recommend me to follow. Because its depreciating me psychologically. I hope you understand. Eagerly awaiting for your reply.

Psychiatrist 's  Response

Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.

Masturbation is considered as a part of normal human sexual behaviour and is very common among young males. It does not have any bad effects on health and does not lead to any medical problems.

Some people have many wrong ideas about masturbation - that it causes ill effects on health like nervous weakness, reduced energy, etc or sexual problems like impotence in the future. All this is not true and these are just myths and misconceptions.

Your erection problem is most likely psychological due to such fears, doubts and misconceptions. So, please consult a psychiatrist for counselling.

Wish you all the best.

Hello abhinavganta
Welcome to HCM
masturbation is not harmful at all. Its a normal phenomenon it doesn't cause any harm to individual.
The problem you having in not getting proper ercetion is psychological and it has most likely no pathological basis. Check if you are having early morning spontaneous erection? Don't get depressed and be assured you are not having any problem. Masturbation is not harmful
Hope I solved your doubt.
Take Care.
