Does Worsening Of Pleural Thickening Cause Chest Pain?
yes - my husband has had pleural thickening for appx two years now , but right at this moment he has considerable pain more on the right side of the chest, he has had a blood test and an xray and is waiting the results - would the pleural thickening have got worse so quickly
Mild pleural thickening generally doesn't cause chest pain. Pleural thickening may be due to sequel of past infection. It is generally a permanent benign finding and patient usually doesn't require any treatment. It may require treatment only when it compromises pulmonary functions.
Pleural thickening may cause symptoms if it is progressing like in chronic infection, inflammation etc.It may be seen on occupational diseases.
So,you should wait for fresh chest X-ray.Treatment depend upon findings.
