Does Vaginal Spotting And Abdominal Cramps Indicate Miscarriage?

The first day of my last Period was February 11, 2016. I got a positive pregnancy test on Saturday, had sex Sunday and noticed pink bleeding and spotting right afterward. I have been having cramps all day today which is Monday. Went to the ER because I was worried (suffered an ectopic last year). My urine test came back negative, blood test came back slightly positive hcg only 16! Am I too early along? Is this normal? Keep in mind my cycles range anywhere from 31-35 days. I had sex on February 29, 2015. Trying hard not to worry.

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I have read your description and understand your concern.
Having vaginal spotting and abdominal cramps after intercourse when pregnancy test was positive could be more likely due to miscarriage.
Also, hCG levels are indicative to be on lower side, which suggests that the pregnancy could have been lost.
Kindly take adequate physical rest. Keep yourself well hydrated by consuming good quantities of fluid. Try not to worry about it.
Repeat hCG levels in blood again after 48 hours. If it is doubled and shows increasing trend, then there is a possibility that the pregnancy would continue. Otherwise, it is very unlikely.
Kindly consult Gynecologist with report for proper evaluation and management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
