Does Tonsillectomy And Adenoidectomy Help Improve Speech?

Hello, my name is Deara, I have a 3 yr old son who has very limited speech. He recently ( a week ago) had a tonsillecotomy and an adenoidectomy. Will this help improve his speech and if so how long would you think I need to wait to see some results.

Hi,
Tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy is not an operation carried out to improve speech. However, if the enlarged adenoids are affecting your son's hearing then this may be impairing his speech development.
I suggest you may wish to consider consulting a speech therapist to have a full assessment of your son's speech to identify the underlying problem.

Dr K A Pottinger,
