Does Throbbing Pain At Top Of Head Indicates Concussion Or Internal Swelling?

Hi, my girlfriend accidentally hit her head against a handle of the top compartment of the fridge as she rose up. Now she is experiencing throbbing pain at the top of her head that is quite unbearable. Is it a concussion or an internal swelling? And what can be done to rectify the problem?

Hi
I am Dr Mittal.
It is very unlikely that there is a very severe injury.
So do relax.
However, headache after the head injury should not be left untreated.
Ideally, I would suggest testing a CT of the Brain, to make sure there is no internal bleeding.
You may find that there is a swelling on the local site on the head where there has been the injury. This may also be a cause for the pain.
I would suggest a pain killer like ibuprofen while you test the CT scan of teh head.
Do let us know the reports.
Best of luck, Dr Mittal
