Does The Normal White Blood Cell Count Mean Immune System Is Not Responding?

hi there, i had a twin c-section 4 weeks ago, then contracted campylorbactor three weeks ago and was hospitalised for iv antibiotics, pain relief and fluids. I had blood cultures done which showed a high crp of over 250. My WBC count remained normal. I was told i had a severe bacterial infection. I have also been treated this week for a chest infection. Does my normal white blood cell count mean my immune system is not responding? Is there anything i can do to help give it a boost? I also had a blood transfusion of 2 units 6 weeks go due to low iron levels beofre the birth. many thanks

Thanks for posting on HCM
White cells can either raise ( usually in bacterial inf ) OR lower ( in viral infection)
N count though still doesn't mean any issues with immune system.
It could be N in cases of severe bacterial infection - if antibiotics were started immediately prior to taking blood test OR also can get altered results with prior blood transfusion.
As long as infection is settled & you are feeling better - no need to be concerned.
There is nothing specific to boost WBC count but very food diet , exercise & healthy lifestyle will always help.
