Does Taking Glycomet For PCOD Causes Gastric And Pain In Ovaries?

i have pcod problm and im on glycomet 1500mg .since from one month im on that dose.but i have gastric problems and sometimes im getting pain in my ovaries.is that side effect of glycomet?will this medicine reguate my periods?im 29 years old.height 5:4.5,weight 70 kg.we r planning for baby.

Hi,
Gastric discomfort, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea can occur consequent to the use of Metformin and if you are unable to tolerate them, you may discuss with your doctor on alternatives like reduction of the dosage and other methods. Metformin is used to treat the insulin resistance observed usually in PCOD thus inducing spontaneous ovulation, regular menstruation and fertility. Pain in the ovaries does not usually happen with the medication, it is possible with ovulation and can be diagnosed through a sonogram. Hope this helps.
