Does Taking Regestrone And Norethindrone Acetate Cause Ill Effects On Baby After Testing Positive For Pregnancy?

Dear Doctor
We have six months baby now..and last month we had unprotected intercourse..during this time my husband was taking LEVOFLOXACIN -500mg and IBUPROFEN+PARACETAMOL with Rantidine for acidity .because this I worried, and I thought this may be not good if I get pregnancy..I asked my doctor some medicine for not getting pregnancy and Doctor suggested 10 tablets of regestrone 5mg (Company name: sandoz) norethindrone acetate. I took these tablets for three days. But after 10 days I did not get my regular menses. I checked urine pregnancy test,, It showed positive..
Can I continue my pregnancy now ?...
Does norethindrone acetate, which I have taken for not getting pregnancy gives any birth defects if we continue these pregnancy?.
Or LEVOFLOXACIN -500mg and IBUPROFEN+PARACETAMOL with Rantidine can we use when we are planning for pregnancy?

Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Norethisterone should not be taken during early pregnancy.
It can cause virilization of a female fetus and some other anomalies ( cardiac, nervous system ) are also associated with the use of this drug in early pregnancy.
However, you have used it just for 3 days, and that too in very early pregnancy, before the sex of the fetus gets differentiated.
There is no evidence to recommend a termination for you, based on the low percentage of anomalies that have been reported.
So please go ahead and continue the pregnancy.
Have detailed sonograms and genetic testing as the pregnancy advances.
Levofloxacin and ranitidine taken by your husband has no bearing on any side effects on the baby.
SO do not worry.
Enjoy your pregnancy and upcoming motherhood !
Do not forget to take daily 5 mg per day folic acid supplements throughout your pregnancy.
